Frequently Asked Questions
What is in-home care and who is it for?
In-home care provides support to assist people live safely and independently in their own homes. This includes assistance with personal care (showering, grooming, toileting), general housecleaning & laundry, gardening, accompanied transport to social events or medical appointments. and other tailored services. It is available through Private pay or Government funded in-home care to older Australians who need assistance with everyday activities to enjoy a good quality of life.
How do I start home care services with Care by Milli in Armadale or nearby suburbs?
- There are two main pathways to access home care services with Care by Milli:
- i. Government-funded support: If you are seeking services through the government-funded Support At Home program or Home Care Package, you can register through My Aged Care and complete an assessment. Once approved, you can choose Care by Milli as a provider to deliver your in-home care.
- ii. Private home care: If you need support sooner, are waiting for funding, or prefer to arrange care directly, you can contact Care by Milli for private home care.
- If navigating the Aged Care system seems overwhelming, get in touch with us and our team can assist you. We support families in Armadale, Toorak, Malvern, Prahran, Green Iris, Kooyong, Caufield, South Yarra and surrounding suburb.
What happens during the initial assessment?
During your first consultation, we discuss the person’s needs, daily routines, mobility, memory, medication history, home environment, personal & cultural preferences, and goals for independence. We then in consultation with the person seeking care tailor a personalised care plan (with right mix of home help, personal care, social support, transport, respite, dementia care, overnight care or other services) that fits their lifestyle and supports their independence at home. This can be done in person or via phone/video call.
